Layas Education Group meets the requirements of the Federal Privacy Act. The CEO is in charge of privacy issues. In the absence of the CEO this becomes the responsibility of the Human Resource Manager.

Staff and students both have the right of access to their own personal records which are maintained in a secure and confidential storage system.

All students are able to access their personal file, and may request that updates be made to information that is incorrect or out of date. Access may be given to an identified government officer from such agencies as WorkCover, State Training Authorities or the Federal Departments of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations for the purposes of audit.

Access to a copy of student or staff records by a third party can only be obtained by written permission of the relevant person whose file has been requested. Such permission will identify the sections of the file to be available. Personal information is collected solely for the purposes of our operation as a Registered Training Organisation.

All reasonable steps are taken to protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure including restricted access to electronic files, secure storage of paper files and secure backup of data.

Upon enrolment students are issued a unique ID number for the purposes of maintaining electronic records or for collection of data by Commonwealth and State Government Departments and Agencies.

We ensure that your information is not disclosed to any third party without your written consent except as required under the Standards for Registered Training Organisations or by law.

Students are made aware upon enrolling that they agree that trainers and other staff may access their personal information without written consent being obtained.

When enrolling, students must sign an Acceptance Agreement which allows government authorities access to their academic and personal details on demand.

Students are required to contact the Campus Manager if they require access to their personal file.

Students may allow third party access to their personal file by providing written permission to the Campus Manager outlining the nature of information that maybe accessed.
